Der neue Email Client Spark aus dem Hause Readdle hat heute, gut sechs Wochen nach seiner Ersterscheinung am 29. Mai, ein Update auf die Version 1.0.1 erhalten. Neben den obligatorischen Bug Fixes, lässt man der App auch einige kleine aber wichtige UI-Verbesserungen, wie z.B. Bulk Edit, einen verbesserte Hintergrundaktualisierung des Badge Counters oder die Einführung eines URL-schemes, angedeihen. Dazu gab es seit dem Erscheinen einiges an User Feedback und Readdle hat reagiert. In diesem Zuge wurde auch die umstrittene “Read Receipts” Funktion vorerst wieder entfernt. Wer das Update über seine installierte Version 1.0 bügelt, kann diese Funktion weiterhin nutzen. Installiert man die Version 1.0.1 ohne Vorgänger neu auf seinem iPhone, so fehlt dann diese Funktion.

– Fixed: more than 30 other issues.– Removed: We removed Exchange from email account types list. This is only an interface change that doesn‘t affect how Spark works with Exchange servers. To add an Exchange email account via IMAP connection, simply use Other option in “Add Account’ dialog. We are working full time on better Exchange support and will restore Exchange as a stand alone email account type once it will be ready.
– Removed: We removed Read Receipts functionality for new Spark installations due to mixed reviews. Hopefully, we will bring it back someday.
Die Spark App ist seit ihrem Erscheinen bei mir als Default Email App im Einsatz und ich komme bestens mit ihr zurecht. Zwar fehlen mir noch einige UI-Verbesserungen, wie z.B. ein Landscape Mode oder “pinch to zoom”, doch durch das Update macht Spark nochmal einen spürbaren Schritt nach vorne, auch wenn die Versionszählung das nicht richtig wiederzugeben scheint.
