I just put a big red mark in my calendar.
According to the research firm, they predict that Apple could end up acquiring companies such as Box or Dropbox. As it stands, Apple and Box are both partnered with IBM in a bid to target the enterprise market. Box and Dropbox are also online data storage firms, but given that Apple already has iCloud which allows users to backup data to the cloud, we’re not sure what acquiring Box or Dropbox would accomplish, save for removing a competitor from the market.
I know what Apple would accomplish by acquiring Box or Dropbox:
Acquiring highly competent people with an excellent knowledge of how to build a reliably working cloud service.

Über 20 Jahre davon haben wir viele Tage und und Nächte miteinander verbracht. Doch dann aß ich vom Apfel und unsere Wege trennten sich, zumindest auf privater Ebene. Geschäftlich haben wir allerdings nach wie vor miteinander zu tun, und das wohl noch sehr sehr lange.

Unfortunately, a caching issue with the Mac App Store meant that some users had to restart their systems and re-authenticate with the Mac App Store to clear a system cache of some outdated certificate information. We are addressing this caching issue in an upcoming OS X update.
Also, some apps are running receipt validation code using very old versions of OpenSSL that don’t support SHA-2. We addressed this by replacing the new SHA-2 certificate with a new SHA-1 certificate last Thursday night.
Sonos 6.0 mit der Trueplay Tuningfunktion ist heute wie angekündigt released worden. Mit Trueplay verspricht Sonos den Klang der Play:1, Play:3 und Play:5 Lautsprecher (die Playbar soll noch folgen) an die jeweiligen räumlichen Gegebenheiten optimal anpassen zu können für noch höheren Klanggenuß, sowohl einzeln, als Stereopaar als auch in Kombination mit der SUB. Skeptisch?
OneNote ist meine favorisierte Notitz-App sowohl auf dem iPhone als auch auf dem Mac und hat Mitbewerber wie z.B. Evernote bereits vor geraumer Zeit bei mir abgelöst. Nicht weil Evernote “schlechter” wäre (schließlich hatte ich Evernote einige Jahre sehr zufrieden im Einsatz), sondern weil OneNote meine Bedürfnisse mittlerweile um einiges besser und umfänglicher abdeckt, wie z.B. die nahtlose Integration in Office.
Clipboard Manager gibt es mittlerweile sowohl für iOS als auch OS X zu genüge, aber bisher habe ich für mich noch keinen gefunden, der den Austausch von Clippings zwischen Mac und iPhone oder iPad richtig gut unterstützte. Mit Copied scheint für mich nun die Suche beendet zu sein.
Nach zwei erfolglosen Anläufen im Bergwerk hat es Plex for Apple TV nun doch noch in den App Store geschafft und ist ab heute kostenlos für alle Nutzer des Apple TV 4 erhältlich. Den Zieltermin zum offiziellen Verkaufsstart hat man zwar knapp verpasst, aber was lange währt wird endlich gut.
